Was The Bachelorette Andi Dorfman wrong in giving up on bachelor Eric Hill on The Bachelorette 2014 last night? Or did he leave The Bachelorette Season 10 on a bad note through his own fault? Regardless of what any of The Bachelorette 2014 Spoilers would say, there was evidently a huge misunderstanding between Andi and Eric when he left the show.
If you saw last night’s episode of The Bachelorette 2014, you know that Eric and Andi talked during the group date about their relationship stalling. After some talking, and with Eric opening up about his family, Andi felt their relationship was re-lit. So what went so terribly wrong?
The night of the Rose Ceremony, Eric approached Andi. He had been thinking, realizing that he had been opening up and that maybe she was the one who wasn’t. And that’s when he probably spoke without thinking, telling her that sometimes she had a “poker face” and that he wanted to meet a real person and “not an actress.” Oh, no. Andi’s expression totally changed, which Eric then saw as the “real” Andi, as she did finally show some emotion. He told Andi that he had seen real glimpses of her and just really wanted to know her more. How the conversation spiraled out of control leaves me flabbergasted. Even Eric looked confused when he left.
Oh, you can look at last night’s episode and try to figure it out. I have, and, to me, it seems like a horrible misunderstanding. Yes, Andi tries to talk with everyone. She stays up late, and she gives of herself. But is that “exhaustion” she mentions why she became so defensive as soon as Eric flubbed up with the “poker face” comment? Yeah, bad word choice, Eric, but he wasn’t mean at all, and he even apologized. I think he realized that he didn’t come across too well and was surprised with how the conversation turned. He was just trying to be honest about how he felt. And, in his defense, sometimes Andi does seem to mask her emotions somewhat. In her defense, maybe she has to. Maybe she took out her own frustrations on Eric. And then the rest of the guys, telling them this is not a “joke” to her. Did Eric ever say that? How did she get that from their conversation? The entire interaction became more dramatic than it should have been. If Eric hadn’t said anything, would Andi have kept him at the Rose Ceremony? I don’t know. Maybe she was already feeling like they weren’t working together anymore.
After Eric Hill’s departure, The Bachelorette 2014 came back on with host Chris Harrison saying that the rest of the time, instead of showing the Rose Ceremony from that night, they would talk about Eric’s life. Andi really felt like everything would have been okay between them if they had the chance for that “last conversation.”
This was hard to watch for me. What about you? Eric Hill was obviously a great guy. Andi, Chris Harrison, ABC–they all acknowledge that. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Eric’s family every time I watch the show. I’m glad The Bachelorette 2014 is taking the time to remember him, but it’s unfortunate that his final scene on the show went so terribly wrong.
